Curricula and Assessment
EQAP's Curriculum and Assessment unit supports and advises countries on the alignment of their national curriculum to an outcomes-based format. The realignment considers the content scope, the linking of content strands and sub-strands, the different levels of learning outcomes and the skill levels of specific learning outcomes.
The unit also provide a training programme to complement outcomes-based curriculum that is designed and developed for curriculum officers, teachers, education officers, school leaders and teacher trainers. The training focuses on targeting good teaching assessment and enhancing learning achievement when using the outcomes-based approach in curriculum development.
EQAP's curriculum and assessment team have supported Samoa, Tuvalu and Vanuatu in the redesign of their curriculum. Three of these countries (Kiribati, Tuvalu and Vanuatu) have adopted the South Pacific Form Seven Certificate (SPFSC) programme as their Year 13 curriculum. This programme is regularly evaluated, independently designed by EQAP with the assistance of seasoned prescription writers.
